UK ATHLETICS MEMORIES…times at Rupp Arena, Commonwealth Stadium, and the Lexington Ice Center which stand out more than most…

RUPP
–one of the first basketball games I ever went to while in college, and we were playing South Dakota State…me and Kyle made fun of the vest-wearing guy who kept cheering on State
–sophomore year, we play #1 Florida in front of ESPN Gamenight, and Rupp is as loud as I’ve ever heard it…me, Kyle, Alyssa, and Amanda cheer on the Cats from the upper deck…they nearly stage an improbable comeback but Noah and the stupid Gators win in the end
–the Cats are terrible my junior year, but they somehow hang on to beat #13 Vandy and give them their first loss…Ramel Bradley’s fadeaway jumper to put the Cats up four in 2OT is the shot of the year
–#3 Tennessee comes marching in to Rupp and gets defeated in a game just as exciting as the Vandy game…it appears now that Kentucky might have a miracle run to the NCAA Tournament after all
–me, Alyssa, and several others manage to get all up on TV at the beginning of the South Carolina game…and we happened to win as well, which made things all that much better

COMMONWEALTH
–Louisville scores to take the lead with under two minutes left, but Andre Woodson finds Stevie Johnson for a downtown touchdown pass to give UK the win over the Cards…shortly after, me and Robert are on the field jumping around wildly, and then we get lost going out of Commonwealth
–UK rallies from 13 back in the second half to take #1 LSU to overtime, and three overtimes later, the Cats have beaten the top team in the country…we don’t get on the field, but we make it back to the BCM where Casey O’Daniel celebrates wildly
–ESPN sends its Gameday show to Lexington and sets up shop in front of William T. Young Library…me and Robert go to the show and are appalled when Lee Corso pulls out the Gator head
–also, the foray to the 2007 Music City Bowl on New Year’s Eve ended up being a spectacular trip…everyone got to stay at my house and Kyle Hawes had a good time with Teddi and Comet

LEXINGTON ICE CENTER
–the first game I go to we play Duke, and Rasor and Gabe have to break up a fight between this guy and a pirate…then we start chanting “Duke rhymes with puke” and other such things
–you can’t beat the general atmosphere, with Hinkley and the music and the junior mints…really every hockey experience is a memory itself and cannot be denied its awesomeness
–some guy gets pushed through the glass by a UK player and triggers a delay and much taunting from the crowd

This was posted on the main page as an example…

–During the Olympics, us freshman guys at the BCM had much fun watching the US Women’s Curling Team in action. Hello Johnson sisters, you can sweep me away any day.

–This year, Matt Scoggins, KCJ, and myself defied logic and won a game in the 3-on-3 tournament. Matt and I didn’t miss a jumper all night, and KCJ shot this in when in counted.

–Alyssa and I were chilling in the YAK one night when I saw shadows out on our deck. We live in the ghetto so I thought we were about to die, but when I opened the door to the deck I couldn’t believe what I saw. Yes, it’s still there, and I have no plans to move it.

–A late night walk with Kyle Hawes all around the UK campus, specifically the area behind CSF, late in my sophomore year as we talked about life, the universe, and everything. We were walking to a baseball game just recently and reminded me that we took a walk around that area once.

–The paranoia for UK hockey was taken to another level when several of us went to Knoxville to watch UK beat UT on the ice during our sophomore year. However, this trip will be known for Robert selling his sister’s phone number to Kyle for half a sandwich. But it was a Jersey Mike’s sandwich, and they are so darn good that it was likely a fair deal.

Alright friends, here’s the deal. Over the next year, I will be compiling and of course adding to a super-awesome list of college memories of which I have accumulated over the past four years at the University of Kentucky. Some of these memories will be extremely detailed while some may be a bit more general. But then, after I have my complete set, I will proceed to rank them 1 to 100. It is an arduous task but one I feel can be completed with style.

But this is where you come in as well! I will be using this page to list and describe some of my favorite memories, but you need to come through as my friend and suggest your favorite memories with me, Benjamin Thomas Osborne! So don’t let me down.

Expect the final list to be released sometime in April 2009 and the rankings to follow in May.
